Visa
Information
In order to apply for the Albanian visa you will send by mail to the Embassy of Albania:
- Application form filled out.
- Passport.
- 2 photographs, passport size.
- Fee, (contact the Embassy for the exact fee).
- Cover letter, explaining the reasons of your trip to Albania.
- Any other document, useful to the approval of visa (copy of “green card”, round trip tickets, etc).
- Prepaid, self-addressed, express mail for the return of your passport.
Processing time: 5 business days.

Shipment of Human Remains
According to two International Agreements on Transportation of Human Remains of Berlin, dated February 10, 1937 and Strassburg, dated October 26, 1973, human remains must always be accompanied by a document, a so called 'Laissez-Passer for Human Remains', which is issued by the competent local authorities/Embassies. This document may only be issued after the local undertaker has certified that all legal requirements concerning transportation of human remains have been complied with.
In order to receive the Laissez Passer for the shipment of human remains to Albania, you will send by fax to the Embassy of Albania:
General requirements:
- Photocopy of the ID of the deceased/Preferably copy of the Albanian Passport.
- Embalming by US standard method. Embalming is not specifically required for shipment to the Republic of Albania.
- Use of hermetically sealed casket.
- Copy of death certificate
Other required documents to accompany the shipment:
- Out of state transport permit
- Burial permit
- Embalmers (non-contraband) affidavit
- Non-contagious disease letter issued by local health authority
- Affidavit with full flight itinerary and name of consignee
The Embassy of Albania does not have to certify any documents if you meet all the above requirements.
Transport of Cremated Remains
No specific requirements are needed, as long the urn which has to be sealed comes with a (copy) of the death certificate.
Processing time: The same
day. The Laissez Passer will be faxed at the fax
number of the Funeral Home.
